Pride Parades and Celebrations in North and Central America

Across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, Pride celebrations have become a widely established part of the yearly calendar. While not every national capital hosts its own Pride event, the vast majority across the region do, making the Americas one of the most consistently represented continents when it comes to Pride celebrations. This Pride Calendar for North America gives an overview of the major Pride Parades and Celebrations.

Pride Calendar for North and Central America including the Caribbean: Dates for 2026

In many countries of the Americas Pride events are not only celebrations, but also important political statements tied to ongoing struggles for equality.

Over the past two decades, LGBTQ+ rights in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean have seen significant progress. Countries such as Canada (2005) and the United States (2015) established nationwide marriage equality relatively early, while more recent milestones include Costa Rica becoming the first Central American country to legalize same-sex marriage in 2020.

In the Caribbean and parts of Central America, legal and social progress has been slower, but recent court rulings striking down colonial-era laws signal gradual change.

Today, same-sex marriage is legal in a growing number of countries across the Americas, and a large share of the Western Hemisphere’s population lives in jurisdictions with marriage equality.

Pride events in the region typically take place between May and September, with June remaining the peak month, in line with international Pride traditions commemorating the Stonewall uprising.

However, due to climate, tourism patterns, and local traditions, many cities, especially in the Caribbean, host their events outside of June. In addition to national and local celebrations, there are also larger regional gatherings such as Latin America Pride, which brings together communities from across the region. In 2026, this event is set to take place in Mexico City, further highlighting the city’s importance as one of the leading LGBTQ+ hubs in the Americas.

The following overview table lists the usual Pride dates for each location and, where available, the confirmed dates for the current year. It is updated regularly as organizers announce official schedules. While many Pride events follow a consistent annual timeframe, it is important to note that dates can shift slightly from year to year and in some cases, events may be postponed or skipped entirely depending on local circumstances.
