Leipzig Pride
The CSD Leipzig was not only the first Pride to be established in East Germany, it is also the biggest Pride celebration in the Eastern part of Germany. While the Pride grows bigger from year to year, also the the counter-demonstrations are also getting bigger, which is causing growing concern.
Leipzig Pride Date
In 2025 the Pride took place end of June. In 2026 Leipzig Pride is taking place in the middle of July.

In 2026, the event is scheduled for Saturday, July 18.
What is the main party at Leipzig Pride?
After the big CSD street party, one of Leipzig’s most extraordinary venues, the Täubchenthal, will open its doors from 9 pm for the Pride Ball. The Prideball is the official closing party for Leipzig CSD and around 2,000 guests are expected to join this blast.
Pride Route Leipzig
Assuming the Parade follows the last years route, it will start and end at Augustplatz. Starting from there it will follow this route: Grimmaischen Steinweg -> Johannisplatz -> Prager Straße -> Johannisallee -> Str. des 18. Oktobers -> Windmühlenstraße -> Wilhelm-Leuscher-Platz -> Petersstraße -> Reichsstraße -> Goethestraße before returning to Augustplatz.
Leipzig Pride Starting Time
The demo day will again begin with a central rally from 11:30 am on the stage in front of the opera. The Parade starts moving at 1 pm at Augustplatz and returns back there at around 4 pm.
Key Facts
When did Leipzig Pride first take place?
The Pride in Leipzig has been the first one to take place in East Germany just three years after reunification and 23 years after the Stonewall riots. Around 100 people gathered at Moritzbastei under the rallying slogan “Lesbians and Gays into the Constitution!. However, due to reunification, many young queer people moved to West Germany, and the Pride movement in the city came to a halt by the late 1990s. It was only revived in 2004, initiated by the student council of Leipzig University. The newly initiated Pride celebration had 400 people marching through the city center. By 2009, attendance had grown to more than 2,000 participants—double the number from the previous year.

In 2024 the number of participants was estimated to have been 21,000 people.
